Former Charlton Athletic midfielder Darren Ambrose has said that Tottenham should allow their captain Cristian Romero to join Arsenal. Although he's contracted to Spurs till 2029, Romero has been linked with the Gunners, as per The Athlteic (via talkSPORT), with Atletico Madrid and Inter Milan also in the fray. The Gunners are looking for a new centre-back following William Saliba's back injury ruling him out of action for a while. Arteta's side kickstart the new campaign with an FA Community Shield matchup with Manchester City on August 16 before their Premier League title defence starts with a home game with promoted Coventry City six days later. The Gunners are coming off a memorable 2025-26 campaign, ending a 22-year wait for the Premier League title, having finished second in the three previous seasons.
