Visakhapatnam: Highlighting its commitment to environmental sustainability while paying tribute to the valour and sacrifice of the heroes of the Kargil War, Union Bank of India, regional office, Visakhapatnam, organised a plantation drive at Naval Science and Technological Laboratory NSTL on Thursday. The programme was attended by Abraham Varughese, Director of NSTL along with HN Das Additional Director, Mithilesh Sahu, senior scientist, Akiri Suneel, union president and JCM leader and G. Nagabhushanam, secretary, works committee, who appreciated the green initiative of the bank and stressed the importance of environmental conservation through sustained plantation efforts. Representing Union Bank of India, J Simhachalam, regional head, P Rajesh, EBC head, and BT Sreenivasulu, regional assurance head, participated in the programme and planted saplings alongside the senior officials of NSTL. The event reflected the shared resolve of both institutions to contribute towards a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable future. Through such initiatives, Union Bank of India continues to promote environmental stewardship and strengthen its commitment to sustainable development and meaningful community engagement under its social responsibility initiatives.
