The initiative, launched by the Andhra Pradesh Handicrafts Development Corporation (Lepakshi), enables buyers to access detailed information about handicraft products through a simple scan of a QR code attached to each item. During the recently concluded Andhra Pradesh Handicrafts Festival, he had proposed the introduction of a comprehensive QR code system that would provide buyers with detailed information about individual artworks and the artisans behind them. Developed within a month by Lepakshi, the QR code platform is claimed to be the first such initiative in the country. In the first phase, QR code profiles have been assigned to eight iconic handicraft products representing Andhra Pradesh’s diverse artistic heritage. Officials said the initiative will gradually be expanded to cover all handicraft products and artisan clusters across the state.
