Vijayawada: CPM politburo member B V Raghavulu urged the Centre not to link the Women’s Reservation Bill with the proposed Delimitation Bill, stating that all Opposition parties were prepared to support the women’s quota legislation if it was introduced separately. He maintained that there was no national consensus on delimitation and pointed out that the Centre had not consulted Opposition parties before bringing forward the proposal. He alleged that the ruling party was using the issue for political gain and accused it of trying to weaken Opposition parties through “Operation Lotus.” He urged the Centre to hold consultations with all political parties before proceeding with the Delimitation Bill. CPM State secretary V Srinivasa Rao demanded that the Andhra Pradesh government release a white paper on employment generation.
