The temple authorities opened the hundis at the Mallikarjuna Maha Mandapam on Thursday in the presence of Executive Officer VK Seena Naik. According to the temple authorities, the hundis yielded a total collection of Rs 3,48,25,362, comprising 3,32,30,362 in Indian currency notes and Rs 15,95,000 in coins. During the counting process, temple officials also found seven old Rs 2,000 currency notes, which are no longer in circulation. Temple authorities attributed the substantial collections to the heavy influx of devotees during the auspicious Ashada month. They said the hundi counting was conducted in a transparent manner following all prescribed procedures and security protocols.
