GRAND FORKS — For generations of Grand Forks students, Ken Sherwood was more than a choir director. He was a mentor, an encouraging word, and to more students than one could ever hope to count, he was simply "Grandpa Sherwood." Ken Sherwood spent decades as the choir director at Red River High School in Grand Forks. Decades after he retired, Grandpa Sherwood remained a fixture of high school music and theater in Grand Forks. Ken Sherwood's funeral is 1 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 8, at Zion United Methodist Church in Grand Forks.
