Federal Court Sides With Trump Over Media Outlet In 11th Hour Decision
['Christine Sellers']

The Donald J. Trump Revocable Trust sought the emergency stay after U.S. Magistrate Judge Enjoliqué Lett ordered July 27 that the BBC be given access to certain financial records.
Trump lodged a more than $5 billion defamation suit against the BBC in December 2025.
Prior to issuing the Thursday emergency stay order, Lett sided with the BBC, according to CNBC.
The order does not permanently shield Trump’s financial records, and a court must decide whether the BBC is entitled to access them to examine Trump’s claim.
Even if the BBC obtains the records, a protective order could protect them from being made public.
