I dared, in my arrogance and in my ignorance, to accidentally upset people who bring camping chairs to Kendal Calling. In my review, I suggested that Kendal Calling attendees can be split into two tribes, each with its own class signifiers, uniform and culture. I actually enjoyed my Kendal Calling experience very much, but my job is to critique it, not be a sycophant. Kendal Calling is a brilliant local success story, but it's unusual how some people have reacted as if they've been personally insulted by a neutral review. A former newspaper editor said it was an "excellent piece of journalism", while one reader said it was "well written".
