Gadi Eisenkot, chairman of the Yashar Party and former IDF Chief of Staff, presented a draft government resolution calling for a state commission of inquiry into the failures surrounding the October 7 Hamas attack, during a press conference at Kibbutz Nir Oz alongside former hostage Gadi Moses. “Nearly three years after the failure, [Prime Minister Benjamin] Netanyahu and his government are still fleeing responsibility, fleeing the truth, and there has been no state commission of inquiry for almost three years,” Eisenkot said. Moses said many Nir Oz residents remain afraid to return home “because they understand that a commission of inquiry still hasn’t been established and no lessons have been learned. Without a state commission of inquiry, there is not and will not be a sense of security for residents of the region near the Gaza border.” The draft will be circulated for public comment until October 7, 2026.
