Republican US Senator Mitch McConnell of Kentucky said on Thursday that he had been discharged from a rehabilitation centre and would continue his recovery from home. He disclosed weeks later that his hospitalisation was the result of a fall and said he was undergoing physiotherapy. McConnell, 84, gave no specific date for his return to the Capitol, but senators are expected to soon leave Washington for the traditional August recess. McConnell had polio in his early childhood and has long acknowledged some difficulty walking and climbing stairs as an adult.
