Days later, one suspect landed in hospital after a road accident while trying to escape, and the other was arrested by police using the city’s SIMBA crime analytics system. The incident took place on the night of July 27 at the Sheetala Mata Temple and Shiv Temple in the Maldhakka area. According to police, the accused broke open the donation boxes and stole cash kept inside. Moments later, they allegedly broke the locks of the donation boxes and escaped with the cash. Police are also verifying the exact amount of cash stolen from the temple donation boxes and whether the duo was involved in similar thefts elsewhere.
