Demands immediate removalSrinagar: The Mutahida Majlis-e-Ulema (MMU) Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday expressed outrage and shock after screenshots shared by people brought to its notice that pork products are being listed for sale on the online delivery platform Blinkit in Kashmir. The MMU, in a statement issued here, said that while it is generally known that pork sale or consumption is prohibited in Islam, and Muslims are very sensitive to this matter, the listing of such products has raised serious concerns. This matter should be seriously investigated by the authorities and those involved warned,” the Majlis said. The MMU asked Blinkit to immediately take the products off their shelves and seriously ensure that pork products are neither stocked, advertised, nor sold in Kashmir. It said that businesses operating in the region have to respect religious and cultural sensitivities of the region and act responsibly.
