At Momi Nonmi in Cambridge’s Inman Square, chef-owner Chris Chung weaves intricate stories of seafood through semi-private omakase feasts. At his new Quincy restaurant, Jūni, it’s a decidedly more casual affair, from the squishy butter toy decorations to the service. “I love izakaya,” says Chung, referring to relaxed, Japanese pub-like establishments; in fact, pre-pandemic, Momi Nonmi was izakaya-inspired when it opened before a COVID-era turn to takeout omakase boxes and, later, in-person omakase. “We actually came up with the takeout box before anything else,” says Chung.
