Leominster Town Council have announced that they have agreed to make the Leominster Information Centre in Corn Square a "potential location" for a temporary Post Office, subject to approvals and arrangements being put in place. The town's current Post Office, based in the former Martin's in South Street, is set to close on August 15 after Morrison's made the decision to close the store amid culling around 100 of its Morrison's Daily outlets. Gill Murdoch, Mayor of Leominster, said the council "strongly supports" having a Post Office in the town centre, and has been working closely with the local MP, Ellie Chowns, and the Post Office to explore temporary arrangements, "while a permanent solution can be established". "While a final decision has yet to be confirmed, we remain committed to doing everything we can to help facilitate the continuation of Post Office services in Leominster," she added. A spokesperson for the Post Office previously said that they wanted to open a replacement branch in the town "as soon as possible".
