Shanklin Road, between Whiteley Bank and Victoria Avenue, had been closed in both directions for several weeks. SGN's licence to close Shanklin Road for urgent gas mains repairs was last week extended by a further week, to today (Friday, August 7). However, the road opened yesterday evening (Thursday). "It is also better to finish the work now while there is less activity elsewhere on the network. "Everyone appreciates that this closure is causing some inconvenience and we thank road users and residents for their patience."
