On October 3, 2025, at approximately 5:35 a.m., police responded to a hit-and-run crash with property damage at the Wal-Mart Supercenter on Preacher Roe Blvd. The suspect vehicle fled through the Walmart lot at high speed and turned onto Southern Hills Drive. At 6:04 a.m., officers located a tan Kia Soul with matching damage and red paint transfer parked at the closed Taco Bell on Southern Hills Drive. Officers noted fresh damage consistent with the victim’s vehicle and observed signs of intoxication when Phegley exited the vehicle, including stumbling and bloodshot eyes. He admitted driving to the Taco Bell lot before 11:00 p.m., purchasing vodka from Casey’s, and drinking while walking back.
