LAGOS, Nigeria — Nigerian filmmaker and television director Dimbo Atiya has died, according to announcements by figures in the country’s entertainment industry. The top Nollywood director passed on this morning. Nigerian actor Mofe Duncan also reacted to the news on Instagram, describing Atiya as one of the entertainment industry’s leading creative minds. Atiya worked as a director, writer, producer and showrunner across Nigerian film and television. The Rishantes, which Atiya co-created, wrote, produced and directed, won the 2022 Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Award for Best Africa Magic Original Series.
