Uzbekistan is being considered as a potential fuel supplier to Kyrgyzstan. The country has the capacity to ship up to 20,000 tons of fuel monthly. Kyrgyzstan imports more than 90 percent of its fuel needs. Amid declining purchasing opportunities in Russia, the country’s authorities are seeking alternative suppliers, including Uzbekistan, Belarus, China, and Azerbaijan. Earlier, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan agreed to create an Interstate Council and increase mutual trade turnover to $2 billion.
