A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Iyiola Omisore, has formally announced his intention to contest the 2026 governorship election in Osun State. Omisore, a former deputy governor of the state, announced in a statement posted on his official X (formerly Twitter) account on Saturday. He said a formal declaration ceremony would be held on October 7 at the APC Secretariat in Ogo-Oluwa, Osogbo. I humbly invite you to join me as we take this bold step towards the Osun Rescue Mission 2026,” he added. Omisore, who contested the Osun governorship election under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 2014, will be one of the major contenders for the APC’s ticket in next year’s primary election in the state.
