Former AFL Players’ Association president Joel Bowden has launched a scathing attack on the league and the players’ union in the wake of the Geelong “secret” concussion deal scandal.
Bowden believes it’s conduct unbecoming and says the club took advantage of a young, vulnerable and desperate player.
“I’m perplexed that it could possibly be an AFL club ... and all of a sudden in 24 hours it’s almost like its been swept under the carpet,” Bowden said on ABC radio.
Asked if there was a legal issue with the secret deal, Schram said it was difficult to say without knowing all the details.
“The AFL is satisfied that the letter was not used by Geelong to allow a medically unfit player to return to play.”
