Nearly 1,500 people have expressed interest in participating in a future Alberta Utilities Commission hearing on an Olds data centre.
((Image contributed))Nearly 1,500 people and organizations have registered to participate in a future Alberta Utilities Commission hearing on a $10 billion data centre and power plant in Olds.
Olds Mayor Dan Daley is not surprised at the level of interest in the giant project, particularly in light of a recent announcement that Meta is looking at an even bigger $13 billion data centre project in Sturgeon County.
The town and council have encouraged residents with concerns about the project to ensure their voices are heard by regulators.
In a question-and-answer section on the data centre on engage.olds.ca, the town says it cannot override AUC approvals.
