Grateful Dead devotees packed clubs and open-air sites this summer, chasing tribute acts and multi-day gatherings, even though no founding members hit the road this year. NPR Music ran a collection of pieces during this year's Days Between, spanning Aug. 1 to Aug. 9. The pieces examine what pulls listeners to the band and how enthusiasts intend to preserve what the group built.
