Millions of dollars in federal disaster relief will be provided to Massachusetts farmers impacted by storms from 2023.
Congressman Jim McGovern said the more than $42 million in disaster relief he secured in December 2024 is finally headed to Massachusetts farmers.
The funds are intended to help farms recover from crop losses and damage to barns and fields caused by severe weather in 2023 and 2024.
Massachusetts has signed its contract with the USDA and is opening applications for nearly 2,000 farms in the affected counties.
According to McGovern's website, Massachusetts has approximately 7,100 farms, with about 2,000 located in Hampshire, Hampden, and Franklin counties.
