Swimmers have accused the City of London Corporation (CLC) of failing to ban trans women entering Hampstead ladies’ pond, in defiance of equality laws. They have criticised the corporation after it opened a consultation on allowing trans women into the single-sex ponds. Swimmers say the ruling was clear and trans women, who are biological men, should be banned from the pond immediately. In July, the CLC put up new signage at the ladies’ pond saying: “Those who identify as women are welcome to swim at the Kenwood Ladies’ Pond. A spokesperson for the City of London Corporation said: “We recognise the sensitivity of this issue and the complexities around access to Hampstead Heath’s swimming ponds.
