Six Jersey Shore beaches in Atlantic and Cape May counties were put under swimming advisories on Tuesday. Water samples showed high levels of fecal bacteria. In Atlantic County, the ocean beaches are Michigan Avenue, Atlantic City, Arkansas Avenue, Atlantic City, and Virginia Avenue in Atlantic City. Water samples that exceed 104 colony-forming units trigger the advisory system. Atlantic County had the most affected spots with four beaches under advisory, while Cape May County followed with two beach areas that failed testing.
