Nebular, the first full length album between collaborators Roy Montgomery and Martha Skye Murphy, channels the atmosphere of the heavens into expansive compositions. The entirety of the album was recorded with Montgomery in New Zealand and Murphy in the UK. Murphy uses her voice to create a web of wordless harmonising, sometimes hitting otherworldly pitches like an alien communication. In the end, both Montgomery’s guitar and Murphy’s voice are subject to the same squalling effect that bolsters and suppresses them in equal turn. But the fade out, as with all of the songs on Nebular, is unassuming.
