['Lucas Tusiiime']
IGAD
6 August 2026 – As a continuation of the first round of exploratory consultations held in Addis Ababa in June, the Quintet (African Union, IGAD, League of Arab States, European Union and United Nations) is sustaining dialogue with Sudanese stakeholders while carefully reviewing the proposals and perspectives shared during the 3-5 June consultations.
Building on this momentum, on 29 July, the Quintet initiated leadership discussions with Sudanese political blocs and parties as part of its strategic engagement.
In parallel, technical exchanges are underway with participants from the exploratory consultations to further examine submitted proposals and exchange views on key issues relating to the political process.
The Quintet remains committed to engaging with all Sudanese stakeholders in a sustained dialogue and with careful preparation.
It believes that broad and inclusive consultation is essential to building the confidence, legitimacy and common understanding needed to advance a credible Sudanese-owned political process.
