SOLOMON Islands Prime Minister Matthew Wale has reaffirmed his government’s commitment to the One-China policy, describing it as the cornerstone of the country’s bilateral relationship with the People’s Republic of China. Wale said the policy remains unchanged under the government of the National Unity and Transformation (GREAT) Coalition, while emphasising that the Solomon Islands would continue to pursue a foreign policy based on mutual respect, consistency and national interest. This Government reaffirms its continued commitment to the One China principle, which is the basis of our bilateral relationship,” Wale said. “The true test of any foreign policy is what it delivers for our people. The remarks reaffirm the Solomon Islands Government’s position on its diplomatic relationship with Beijing, emphasising the importance it places on international partnerships that support the country’s development priorities.
