The new system strengthens Niue’s energy resilience and gives the island one of the largest per-capita solar capacities in the Pacific. The project, built beside Niue International Airport, includes 4,536 JA Solar panels and a Sungrow battery. “Every Pacific Island faces its own version of this challenge with geographic remoteness, outsized exposure to climate risk and complex solar installation conditions,” Sunergise Chief Executive Paul Makumbe said. The project was delivered in partnership with the Government of Niue and New Zealand’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade. Each litre of diesel no longer imported gives Niue more scope to reinvest in healthcare, education and community wellbeing, strengthening the country’s economic resilience and development.
