Egypt’s SIS rebuts reports by two British newspapers

Egypt’s State Information Service (SIS) has rejected what it described as inaccurate claims published by the British newspapers The Sun and The Mirror regarding the treatment of a British citizen at Sharm El Sheikh International Hospital in September last year.
According to SIS Chairman Alaa Youssef, official hospital records provided by Egypt Healthcare Authority refute the claims made in the two reports.
The records show that the British citizen did not undergo surgery or receive medical treatment at Sharm El Sheikh International Hospital.
The records also indicate that she was not admitted to the hospital or treated in its emergency or surgical departments.
Youssef said the reports lacked factual and documented evidence and called on both newspapers to publish the SIS response in full, in line with professional journalistic standards and ethics, to ensure the public has access to accurate information.
