Earlier this year, Atherton successfully secured £500,000 Pride in Place funding, allowing it to make improvements to areas that needed it most. "Earlier this year, Atherton was successful in securing £500,000 of Pride in Place Impact funding, designed to deliver quick-win, visible improvements in communities and strengthen social infrastructure. "The remainder of the funding is allocated for supporting local community organisations, sporting groups and improving play provision in Atherton. Five locations around Wigan and Atherton received Pride in Place funding in total, worth a sum of £1.5m between them.
