Bolton Destitute Animal Shelter announced the closure this week, describing the decision as difficult but necessary to protect the welfare of animals, staff, volunteers and visitors. Animals believed to be at risk have been isolated while staff have begun an extensive deep-cleaning operation throughout the shelter. "Our staff have been working incredibly hard around the clock to manage the situation. "We would be incredibly grateful for any donations towards veterinary treatment, cleaning supplies, and the ongoing care of the animals while we work to safely reopen. The shelter is expected to provide further updates in due course, and a clearer timeline for reopening will be established.
