The disruption is impacting several train operators, including Northern, Avanti West Coast, East Midlands Railway, London Northwestern Railway, Merseyrail, TransPennine Express and Transport for Wales. Responding to passengers on social media platform X, Northern warned that services were likely to be delayed because of the power outage. In one reply, the operator said: "It is likely to be delayed due to the power outage. Northern also apologised to affected passengers, adding: "We are really sorry for the disruption to your journey. The train operator said the power failure had also affected its control building, making it difficult to arrange alternative travel for passengers.
