Federal aid is still available for Mississippians impacted by a tornado outbreak this past May. The U.S. Small Business Administration said Thursday that disaster assistance remains available for residents, businesses, and private nonprofits impacted by the severe storms, tornadoes, straight-line winds, and flooding that occurred in Mississippi from May 6-7. Officials added that those impacted by the conditions can apply for SBA disaster loans online, by calling the SBA’s customer service center at 800-659-2955, or by visiting an open SBA Business Recovery Center in person. The deadline to report damages in pursuit of federal assistance is Aug. 31. The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency opened six disaster recovery centers in July for storm victims to be assisted when filling out necessary paperwork for financial aid.
