The Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA) is behind the effort to improve digital inclusion by providing refurbished mobile phones, iPads, laptops, and monitors to schools and charities across the North West, including in Warrington. More than 1,500 devices have been donated to around 50 schools and charities since 2021 across Cumbria, Lancaster, Warrington, and Manchester. Debbie Reid, a therapist at the care provider, said: "The donated mobile phones have made a real difference to some of the children and young people in our care. "We are extremely grateful for the donation and the positive impact it has had on the young people we support." Through its digital donation scheme, the NDA is helping to remove barriers to communication and opportunity, particularly for vulnerable individuals who face additional challenges in accessing digital resources.
