The Chico High School football team came from behind to defeat Elk Grove 27-17 in the Panthers’ final non-league of the season on Friday in Elk Grove. The Thundering Herd led 10-0 after the first quarter and 17-0 after a score early in the second quarter. Chico scored twice on a kick return for a touchdown and a passing touchdown, and Elk Grove took a 17-14 lead at halftime. The Grizzlies added 21 points in the second quarter to lead 56-14 at halftime, before a scoreless second half. The Wolverines added a rushing TD with five minutes remaining to take a 28-6 lead, before Cashten Acosta scored a 69-yard rushing TD with two minutes remaining to seal the 36-6 win.
