A former California state parks superintendent accused of secretly recording naked lifeguards at a Bolsa Chica State Beach locker room and sharing some of the images appeared for a court proceeding Thursday attended by some of his accusers. Pearsall was a California State Parks superintendent from 2024 through July 2025. The sworn law enforcement position oversees management and operations of state parks in the Orange Coast District, including Orange County. The State Parks department issued a statement that said, in part, "California State Parks takes these charges very seriously and has fully cooperated with law enforcement through every step of the investigation." He was employed by California State Park from 1994 until retirement in July 2025.
