— On Thursday, Local tennis enthusiasts and Casper officials celebrated the completion of the city’s newest tennis courts, a project that was roughly four years in the making.
According to Lopez, the existing tennis courts at Washington Park, which were decades old, were falling into disrepair to the point of being unsafe to play on.
Mayor Ray Pacheco said the project holds a special place in his heart, as Washington Park was integral to his youth and that of many other Casper residents.
I swam at the pool many, many times; I played on the tennis courts when I was your guys’ age,” he said, looking at the crowds of tennis players gathered to celebrate the commemoration.
That’s what we’re celebrating today with the opening of the Washington Park community tennis hub.”
