On August 7, a major green energy company’s supercomputing center in Ulanqab, located in China’s northeastern Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, officially began operations. The Ulanqab Xinghe Base is equipped with a computing capacity of one million petaflops, designed to serve the computational requirements of leading technology and AI firms. Its energy storage stations could discharge up to 3.2 million KW simultaneously, with an overall maximum storage capacity of 11.1 million kilowatt-hours. “The region’s abundant wind resources allow us to directly supply green power to our computing center by constructing dedicated wind farms and transmission lines,” Zhao explained. “Our company aims to establish a green power direct supply system for the Ulanqab facility,” Zheng added.
