The Government of Tajikistan and the United Nations have reviewed progress under the Transforming Food Systems for Better Nutrition in Tajikistan programme during the Second Joint Steering Committee meeting held in Dushanbe.
The meeting brought together senior government officials, United Nations agencies, and development partners to assess achievements, provide strategic guidance, and reaffirm their commitment to improving nutrition, strengthening food security, and advancing the Sustainable Development Goals through coordinated food systems transformation.
Supported by the United Nations Joint SDG Fund, the programme is helping Tajikistan strengthen institutional capacity, improve policy coherence, and promote evidence-based solutions that place nutrition at the center of food systems development.
By encouraging collaboration across sectors such as health, agriculture, education, finance, and economic development, the initiative supports a whole-of-government approach to creating healthier, more resilient, and sustainable food systems.
Jointly implemented by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), UNICEF, the World Health Organization (WHO), and the World Food Programme (WFP), the programme aims to build sustainable food systems that improve nutrition, enhance food security, and support the long-term wellbeing of communities across Tajikistan.
