WFP Calls for Urgent Support to Address Afghanistan’s Child Nutrition Crisis
[]

The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) has warned that Afghanistan is facing a worsening child malnutrition crisis as humanitarian funding shortages force the reduction of lifesaving food and nutrition programmes.
Despite the harvest season, many families continue to struggle to secure enough food, with child food insecurity affecting nearly half of the population during the first quarter of the year.
Humanitarian funding reductions have already disrupted nutrition services across the country.
Additional supply chain disruptions caused by regional conflict and prolonged border closures have resulted in severe shortages of specialized nutrition products, leaving nearly one million mothers and children without critical nutrition services for several months.
WFP is urging the international community to provide urgent funding to restore and expand nutrition programmes across Afghanistan.
