The International Maize and Wheat Improvement Center (CIMMYT) and the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) have signed a global Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen international cooperation on food security, humanitarian response, and resilient agricultural systems.
The collaboration focuses on improving crisis response while helping communities restore livelihoods and build more sustainable food systems.
Under the new framework, the two organizations will promote stronger cooperation across the entire food security continuum, from emergency assistance to agricultural recovery and long-term resilience.
Through this strengthened collaboration, CIMMYT and WFP aim to advance integrated approaches that combine humanitarian action with agricultural innovation.
By investing in both immediate relief and long-term resilience, the partnership seeks to improve global food security, strengthen farming systems, and help vulnerable communities better prepare for future climate, economic, and humanitarian challenges.
