Kenya Expands Carbon Market Strategy to Support 2050 Net Zero Goal

fundsforNGOs News
Kenya is strengthening the governance framework for its carbon market as part of broader efforts to accelerate climate action and attract international investment.
The initiative is designed to support the country’s long-term objective of achieving carbon neutrality by 2050 while creating a more transparent and effective carbon trading system that aligns with national development priorities.
The new carbon budget framework is intended to connect Kenya’s national climate commitments with practical policies, investment decisions, and carbon trading strategies.
The reform supports the implementation of Kenya’s updated Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) submitted under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).
By strengthening its carbon market governance and aligning climate policies with investment opportunities, Kenya aims to mobilize additional climate finance, accelerate low-carbon development, and enhance progress toward its long-term emissions reduction and sustainable development goals.
