The Right to Information (RTI) Commission has imposed a GH¢20,000 administrative penalty on several major public institutions, including Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital, Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, 37 Military Hospital and the Ghana Police Service, for failing to submit their 2025 annual reports.
The affected institutions were sanctioned for breaching Section 77(1) of the Right to Information Act, 2019 (Act 989), which requires public institutions to submit annual reports on their implementation of the RTI law.
The Commission said annual reports submitted by public institutions serve as critical inputs for preparing its consolidated report to Parliament.
The RTI Commission reminded heads of public institutions that compliance with reporting requirements under Act 989 is a legal obligation and not discretionary.
It said the enforcement action forms part of efforts to promote transparency, accountability and access to information across Ghana’s public sector.
