President John Dramani Mahama has urged Ghanaians to recognise and honour public servants while they are still serving, saying their sacrifices are too often appreciated only after tragedy strikes. He said public servants regularly travel long distances, spend extended periods away from their families, work under pressure and accept significant risks because they believe in Ghana’s progress. Mr Mahama noted that the contributions of many public servants are only fully acknowledged after fatal incidents. He called for a national culture that values dedication to public service while it is being rendered. “Today we must resolve to appreciate public service even as it is performed daily.
