Aug 07, 2026Dwayne PageDeKalb County will have a new county mayor and sheriff September 1Patrick Ray, a Republican who has served as sheriff for the last 20 years, was elected the next county mayor in Thursday’s DeKalb County General Election, succeeding Incumbent County Mayor Matt Adcock, who chose not to seek re-election this year. Ray defeated Independent candidate Brandon Bates and Democrat Beth Pafford to win the seat. Ray received 2,339 votes (49.99%) to 1,353 (28.92%) for Bates. Pafford got 961 votes (20.54%). Meanwhile Brian Williams, also a Republican who serves as Chief Deputy to Sheriff Ray, will himself become Sheriff next month.
