Last weekend to fish Deschutes for steelheadAnglers will no longer be able to fish or keep steelhead in the Deschutes River starting Saturday, Aug. 15, due to lowest on record returns from Bonneville Dam in July.
Trout fishing will remain open, and fall Chinook fishing will continue on the lower Deschutes from Sherars Falls to the railroad trestle downstream.
Head to Hosmer Lake for nice paddle, viewsCascade Lakes would be a great option for people looking to escape the 90-degree heat this weekend.
Another, more popular option in the Santiam area is the 25-mile McKenzie River Trail.
