For generations, visitors and staff have spoken of “The Green Lady”, a mysterious figure said to haunt the upper floor of the historic castle.
According to local legend, The Green Lady is Lady Fanny Sinclair, the only daughter of the 14th Earl of Caithness.
Heartbroken, Lady Fanny is said to have waited by her bedroom window, hoping her lover would return.
Lady Fanny was allegedly locked in a bedroom on the castle’s upper floor, from where she later leapt to her death.
Some have claimed to sense an unseen presence on the upper floor, while others have spoken of doors closing by themselves and lights switching off without explanation.
