Pittsburgh’s Urban Redevelopment Authority plans to remove or cover a Homewood art installation that a local muralist alleges “reproduced” parts of his work without permission.
“I was shocked to see my artwork, two of my artworks, used in this mural,” Holbrook said.
Holbrook identified the artist behind the Greater Pittsburgh Coliseum piece as Camerin “Camo” Nesbit, who declined to comment on the situation.
Holbrook said he believes Pittsburgh needs better regulation over mural artists to avoid people using other people’s work without their permission, as he alleges happened at the Greater Pittsburgh Coliseum.
The Greater Pittsburgh Coliseum, also called the Homewood Coliseum, formerly housed over 100 streetcars in the 1890s.
