During a trip to Hawaii in early July 2026, two high school students from southern Mississippi rescued a drowning man at night. Griffin Johnson, a recent graduate of Long Beach High School, and Mason Crawford, an upcoming junior at Picayune Memorial High School, were taking photographs along the coastline at Waikiki Beach when they heard a man yelling. The man they saved made a full recovery, and the boys soon discovered that he was their tour guide for the following day.
